Shocking: When Applied to Laboratory Mice, This Popular Moisturizer Caused 69% More Tumors
A study done with popular brands of moisturizers showed that they increase the chances of skin cancer. The study was done with mice and after 17 weeks, the number of tumors increased by 69%. Regular application of each product led to increase in skin tumors and faster growth of tumors, according to the head of the study Allan H. Conney, PhD.
Moisturizing creams with mineral oil are tumorigenic
The abovementioned study, published in the Journal of Investigative Dermatology, found that moisturizing creams that have mineral oil increase the rate at which skin tumors form. The study tested skin lotions like Dermabase, Vanicream, and Dermovan. The mice were subjected to a topical application of 100 mg of one of these creams on a daily basis, five days per week, for 17 weeks. Dermovan increased the total number of tumors by 95%, Eucerin by 24%, Dermabase by 69%, and Vanicream by 58%.
Tanning oils are filled with mineral oil
Mineral oil is present in a lot of tanning products and it’s never labeled as such but under different names like mineral seal oil, white oil, paraffin oil, adepsine oil, etc.
Mothers, beware of the products you put on your skin
A lot of breastfeeding women put different creams onto their breasts. However, it has been discovered that mineral oil parrafins may bioaccumulate fat tissue, in the skin and breast milk. According to experts, the baby may receive 1% of the paraffin deposits in the body and breast milk.
You can easily absorb toxins through skin care products, not just food
The skin absorbs everything you apply on it since it is the largest permeable organ. Everything you apply on your skin goes into the bloodstream and then enters the whole body. To make matters worse, putting chemicals on the skin is much worse than eating them because the enzymes break them down and remove them through the urine and feces. However, when they enter the body through the skin, they reach the organs immediately, without prior filtering. As a result, they pile up in the system and cause further complications.
Are there any safer alternatives?
Nowadays, one of the most difficult things to do is to avoid toxic products as they are literally omnipresent. The best option is to make your own skin care products with natural ingredients like coconut and emu oil. If this is too much for you, you can always look for safer products in healthy food stores. You should look for the following labelings: USDA Organic Seal, earth-friendly, animal-friendly, and green companies, fragrance-free products, products in glass bottles rather than in plastic.
